Pentax K-30 Hands-On Field Test

The Pentax K-30 has the best best specs of any of the entry level DSLRs. With a weather sealed body, two control dials, a 100% viewfinder and great image quality, it sounds amazing. To test the abilities of this little marvel, The Camera Store's Chris Niccolls took the K-30 on a float down the Bow River, where the weather sealing, AF abilities and dynamic range were put to the test!

7-8 years later, Is the Pentax K-30/K-50 Still a viable camera? (Part 1)

In this video I bring you along with me on a random shoot to see if the Pentax K-30/K-50 is still a decent camera 7-8 years after its release.
I was hoping there'd be more activity where I was, but, sometimes things are out of your control so it is what it is.

So, is this camera still viable? Definitely!! Without a doubt (as long as you don't experience the aperture block issue).
I've had my K-30 for about 4 years and have taken tens of thousands of photos from freezing temperatures to live events and the blistering summer heat and humidity and it's never let me down. The image quality has been fantastic (all the way up to ISO 10,000) which I'll go into in another video.

My K-30 is running Ported K-50 Firmware (to enable KAF4 ability for the DA 55-300 PLM lens.
