Von Smith : I have been a professional trainer for at least 20 years, teaching subjects like software, finance, computer processes, and... you get the picture. Your video is elegant. I wish more instructors would take the time to do what you did in your Cat5e and Cat6 tutorial. Foremost, you used plain, non-technical language and clear, visual, checkpoints a lay person could understand and use to make sure the process works. In addition, you:

1. Introduced the settings where such cables are used, such as network quality, volume, and speed.
2. Described the lack of knowledge surrounding both kinds of cable, such as, "why is my network so slow?"
3. Distinguished the requirements that demand each type of cable, such as normal data rates vs. giga-speed
4. Laid out the components & tools and needed elements so we can find them, such as, ~"get this tool at a hardware store."
5. Pointed out special distinctions so the watcher could recognize what was important, such as wire colors, order, & length.
6. Provided tips from your own experience, such as sheath cutting & double crimping,

There were many more elements in your presentation that made it more friendly and clear, which is just who you are. Anyway, thank you for one of the best instructional videos I have seen.
John Kessler : If I was to recommend to someone a training video for this topic, it would be this one. It was detailed enough to give me exactly what I need, offered some very helpful technical background on the types of cable and how they differ, and it was entertaining enough to make me want to watch to the end. Excellent job!
Justin Randall : Excellent video thanks for teaching! I've found that with cat 6, if you make your initial cut at a bit of an angle it's much easier to get the sled on a pair at a time.
Peace1975Love : Thank you for the presentation. With your help I did the cables correctly the first time. Keep it up :)
STREETRACEN4U : 5:40 Thank you for all the close up shots! I was wondering how the cable would connect and I dont have the cables in front of me yet this helped me understand it

Coaxial cables and common connectors

Different types of networking cables are used to connect different devices. In networking, the most common cables include coaxial cable, twisted pair, optical fiber, and parallel/serial cables. Their uses depend on the network topology, hardware, software, and network size. Networking cables, connectors, and their specifications belong to the physical layer or layer one of the OSI Model.

Today my topic is coaxial cable, common uses, and some common connectors.
Iamalone : Finally an expert who explains with slow speech especially to non-native speakers like me. Could you kindly tell me the world producers of RG-220 coaxial cable?
Thank you so much.
synzc : Relevant and way good than my entire school teachers. Thanks to you sir! For making this video.
Luis : Sunnyyyyy thank you for the fantastic material. Can you take the exam for me? :D haha. Wish me luck! I take it a second time this week. Missed the passing mark by roughly 5 questions two months ago. PBQs were hard...but your material def. helped me this time around.
Motlamedi Patrick : Best channel
With well explained and straight to the point videos
Keep up the good work man

Adam Siek : Enjoyed your video, I hope to see one on fiber connecter soon.

#230: How to install a BNC connector on RG-58 coax | DIY Repair

This short video shows how to install a crimp style BNC connector onto RG-58 50 ohm coax. Installation of other crimp style coaxial connectors will be similar. Note that the connectors are specific to the type of coax being used, and having the correct crimping tool is really a necessity. You can optionally (carefully) solder the center pin, and optionally finish up with some heat shrink tubing for clean professional look.
Bob Mustari : Another great demo as usual. I do have one suggestion. When crimping contacts onto small wires I find it preferable to place the contact in the tool and then insert the wire into the contact. I do this for all connector styles. The position of the contact in the tool is usually quite critical and can be varied enough to make a poor connection. I also want to point out that BNCs are readily available in both 50ohm & 75ohm impedance. I don't know of a way to distinguish between them visually so be careful when buying them because the seller might not know what they are selling. Coax is usually marked with an identifying number and sometimes the impedance so if the connector fits the coax it's likely the correct impedance.
War Planner : Alan, per usual, timely and useful guide. Thanks!

..at the risk of being hyper-tangential, would you ever consider doing a video on measuring receiver sensitivity (db, s+n/n, etc.)? It would be very popular, I am certain.
Thanks es 72,

Bill, k6whp
tychosis : We've been buying needlessly expensive BNC cables in my lab for years and of course they are never quite the length you want. I was happy to see your tutorial because I've learned so much from your other videos. Now I feel like an idiot for never making my own sooner...
Crzyc0r3 : +w2aew Nice video, I work in aerospace and do tons of these connectors on a regular basis. I would like to see you do a Triax TNC next, if you get some time. Triax can be tough, especially when doing the center pin. The connector I use the most is the Amphenol 31-2675-1, or the 31-8357-3.
Thanks for posting this video, now I can show the new guys how to do BNC connectors.
Nick Pudsey : Very clear and concise instructions on how to crimp on the connector. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Now it's time to put into practice!
