Ricky Logan Jr. : Hi Brian , you might like what VW did for the 2020 Passat and all new 2019 Arteon. It's wonderful that VW has not given up on 4 door sedans, and I think the Passat also comes in a Wolfsburg edition. Very awesome that Passat comes in varied standout trims.
Carlos Dyer : Very informative. You're really a great presenter; you didn't miss a beat !
Ivey Fagan Jr : Thank you for this review!! I have been waiting for someone to do a review on this car. It will be a steal since the new update model comes out next year. Thank you!!
Whitneyfan 90 : I have a base model R-Line. Had it since 2016. Love these cars.
Doug : I've recently considered getting a Volkswagen Passat, nice looking in design plus much better so far in fuel economy as prices are not too bad vs on American cars. I love my 2006 Lincoln Town Car & like to get another Lincoln but I don't know, never thought I'd ever think of buying a Volkswagen until recently as I've said. Nice looking cars.

Lawrenco : I leased this car , I’m about 2k miles in and it’s really solid for a daily commuter. If you want to maximize the driving experience gotta enter the plus minus manual mode. Computers occasionally glitch out but other than that no real complaints. Would have been awesome to get the LED daytime lights on the Wolfsburg , or a V6 line , but the rims are impressive , standard features impressive , etc. probably one of the cooler cars in the class. Plenty of room in the car overall especially the back seat. Def happy with it , for my next car def want a bigger engine , but the turbo in this sounds nice with the wooshes, it’s kind of surprising. Cheers.

Tested! Discovering The 2019 VW Passat Highline 2.0! | EvoMalaysia.com

It's been keeping a low-profile, under the radar so to speak, but it's time this VW Passat 2.0 Highline gets the recognition it deserves! With this car you get GTI performance (220bhp, 350Nm torque, 6-speed DSG) but with all the convenience of a "family sedan", all for less than RM200k.

It also benefits from very understated looks, but don't let that fool you, this car is frighteningly quick! For more info, details and specs, hit the link below...

APOLLO : Excellent review Chris. Agree with your views on the car. Have a 1.8 CL version. Done 48km plus now. So far no complaints whatsoever. The B8 (current version) is very reliable engine and gearbox wise. Am in a VW chat group with more than 250 Passat owners. Aside from some minor issues concerning tire noise, panel rattle, door rubber seal, there's really nothing major to flag down the Passat. Had 2 Camrys' before, they were slightly more spacious and comfortable riding, especially in town. But once the roads open up, the Passat is way better. Better acceleration, goes to 240km/h, better braking, better cornering and handling. Feels light on the feet. I don't expect the Passat to be as reliable as the Camry though but to be fair, with so many features built in, it's understandable that problems could occur in the long run. Besides, not many cars out there are as reliable as the Camrys' anyway. So, nothing to single out the Passat as being a bad car. The gearbox issues of the B7 model is a thing of the past since 2014. Just love the dual personality of the car you correctly speak of. Wafts quietly or can be addictive driven fast. So no regrets. Am highly considering changing to a Passat 2.0 HL in a year or two.
yong waikeat : I have driven altis 1.8 G 2004, Camry 2.4v 2007, prius Lux spec 2013 and now Jetta HL, I must say nothing beats this little 1.4, it’s a rocket ship and handles very well but occasionally the speed sensor got to change, mileage, a full tank can go more than 900km comparable to Prius but of course it’s 55L compared to Prius’s 44L, imagine this Passat 2.0, warp speed mr scot, Camry and accord can’t hold a candle even to Jetta not to mention Passat, drive one it’s like opium and you’re hooked. It’s for car enthusiasts
Volks : Full throttle from standstill the car traction kick in even in 2nd gear, you can imagine the power of the car. The DSG wet clutch in HL is superb smooth without any juddering. Space wise is good to fit 5 adults. The noise isolation is good but not as good as Camry, the engine noise in idle is quite obvious. And the turbo lag is happened sometimes and due to high torque it can be scary and pushy. Overall I am very happy with my passat HL and no regret to choose it over the camry. Besides I got it below 170k while camry is over 190k.
Gary Low : Great presentation format on video! Always looking forward towards Chris's review from a commoner standpoint.

Keep up the good work bro! double thumbs up!
Dr Max Long : Hey Chris. Good video.
Dr Max here... ring a bell?
You're spot on about the space in the back and generally inside the Passat. I'm sort of a fan of the Passat's VAG lineage and specifically the 1st generation Skoda (3U4) Superb 1.8T which came standard in long wheelbase form. This Superb is based on Passat B5.5 in extended wheelbase guise, of course. It's almost never an option to get a LWB version of Audi or Volkswagen in Bolehland. Eg Passat L or Tiguan L exclusively for China market.
So you're absolutely right on the rear legroom of this latest standard Passat B8 which I have seen to be as spacious as the old Skoda Superb 1.8T inside.
You have also nailed the description about the Passat design language aptly. I got your drift having onwed two Skodas and driven the B7 Passat. They are understated over the generations, for a reason as to not usurp its premium Audi brethrens, but still sports sleek, clean and elegant lines.
Great observation bro!
May we all find our blue sky escape soon
