How I got my GREEN CARD through EB2/NIW (how long it took + what you need)

In this video I am sharing my experience getting my green card (permanent resident status) through the employment-based category 2 (EB2-NIW) visa program as a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology. I honestly had no clue that I could apply for a green card myself. Thanks to a good friend however, I applied for my green card through the EB-2/NIW program and was approved for my green card in November of 2018.

Please DO NOT email me with those questions or message me on ANY platform regarding this. I am NOT an immigration lawyer. I only shared my PERSONAL STORY of going through the process to inspire and encourage those on that journey. Everything I know and can share is what I have mentioned in my videos. Law firm I used - WeGreened.com
General documents you will need
- Letters of recommendation from your PhD advisor and individuals who work in your field and understand the impact of your work
- PhD diploma/transcripts
- Copies of your publications
- Proof of citations of your work and how relevant it is in your field
- Tax documents
- Employment status/letter of employment/paystubs
- All previous I-20 documents
- I-94 documents
- Passport pages photocopy
- Birth certificate
- Medical exam (this will be required when you are adjusting your status)
- Past copies of EAD documents

It's a lot! But eventually, the wait is worth it.

These videos are clear, simple and answered almost all of my questions. I have two questions for you. As you would know getting manuscripts published can take time and there are multiple reviews before the paper gets finally published. So did you apply for the EB-2/NIW program during the PhD or did you wait until you graduated? My other question is about the time. You mentioned that it took you 9 months for the first step. How long did the second step take? Thanks! You're a guardian angel for PhD students like me. :)

2) I do not have citations, so are citations required or essential thing (how much important are the citations) ?

I decided to move out from the UK and considering that I have been out of work, I wouldn't like to spend 250 pounds/year just to keep my ID live. The hardest bit was to go through an interview and get my application accepted.
