Gavin Thor : I was curious what type of insulation is used inside the window... is it the spray-in type, or the preformed pieces?
Southwest Exteriors : Great Question! We can only speak for ourselves, but our installers use the spray-in type when installing all the window lines that we carry.

Quick note on the incident metering talk around 6:50...how I explained it is if you have a reflective meter. With an incident meter I would turn away from the scene and do the exact same but pointing towards the camera. Okay carry on.

H W : I grew up using , almost exclusively, slide film - god knows how many 1000s, and before you were born! As a result, I always wonder why there is so much consternation and confusion re. metering transparency film from people used to digital. If you need to avoid blowing out highlights on most digital sensors, then you need to be a bit aware of that with the film BUT the most awkward to deal with is under exposing shadows.
Using in camera meters, some spot, and sometimes juggling 2 or 3 indicated settings or bracketing rarely had issues, except landscapes with bright(er) skies and under doing the land (clue in the question, dummy) made for images that became skyscapes. Muddy, red or magenta shadows unrescuable in scanning. So, imho, in really tricky light err to favouring the shadows. Say 1 or 2 stops less than ideal for the shadow AND 2, 3, even 4 than the high lit sky.
BTW, used to use Ektachrome a lot, but HATE the new version. Excited to try it when it was relaunched (not? doesn’t seem the same to me) but very disappointed with, frankly, horrible colour.
Mike Freeland : I really see a movement taking place in the film community that is branching away from the “Portra only” mentality. There’s not a single negative thing to say about Portra by any means. It has its reputation for a reason. However I just love that I see people like you and others pushing us all to be excited about film in general and to test the waters with other stocks and more importantly to remember that all of these different film stocks were all we had at one point. I really feel like Instagram filters back in the day replaced film stocks and if anyone ever asks me “why film?”, that’s the first thing that comes to mind.
Ben Bateson : Graduated ND filters are your friends for landscapes. It's pretty rare for a scene to fit nicely in a 4 to 5 stop range and even so, if you can get it down to 3 stops, do that.
Raevenswood : using a Sekonic spot meter it's easy to test the dynamic range of a scene using the EV mode. That will instantly tell you how dynamic the scene is. Then you can either decide to expose for the highlights which is what you want to do if you don't have ND filters or you can expose for the shadows and then bring down the highlights with an ND grad. Basically its the same thing you are doing but for me its faster to calculate what filter I need using the EV reading instead of having the meter in aperture priority.
Peter Farr : Provia is by far my favorite film!
In my opinion there's no better film for sunset colors. Try it at sunset, it's truly magical!
