What is Postcolonialism:
Since I claim to be a postcolonialism scholar, I think it is apt to include a brief description of my field of study. In my view, Postcolonialism (also written as Post Colonialism or Post-Colonialism) is a dynamic field of literary study that focuses on the history of colonialism and native responses to the colonial policies and life after colonialism formally ends. The field of postcolonialism also offers insights into the literature and culture of the the former European colonies and their struggles after the end of colonialism.

What is Interpellation? Louis Althusser: Marxism| Literary Theory| Ideology

This is abrief discussion of the concept of interpellation, as theorized by the French Philosopher Louis Althusser.

Althusser. "Lenin and Philosophy and Other Essays."
You can find a good discussion of Althusser's theorization of ideology in my following book:
Raja. "ISIS: Ideology, Symbolics and Counter Narratives." https://amzn.to/3fIFu2K

Infinita Fenix : Woa! thank you for your quick response. I think it's much clearer now, your example with different individuals has helped. I guess interpelation would be related to a kind of 'role' that the individual is supposed to play in a given ideology where he/she is immersed. Something that we interiorise most unconciously and informs us of our position, even agency, in our society. Therefore, when we are hailed by an authority we answer accordingly by assuming such role. Right?
Shuayb Muhammad : Thanks for uploading these precious videos. Sir, you have been of amazing help in this pandemic
Barry Monahan : A great breakdown of some concepts related to Althusser. Please keep up your great work!
Qasim Ali : Comprehensively illustrated thank you.
Tricia Cherise : This helped me alot. I love the way you explain this concept. Thank you. :-)

What is Cartography in Postcolonialism? | Postcolonial Theory | Postcolonial Concepts
Cartography is the study and practice of making maps. Combining science, aesthetics, and technique, cartography builds on the premise that reality can be modeled in ways that communicate spatial information effectively. (From Wikipedia)
In postcolonial theory, Cartography is not just the practice of mapping but also the political and administrative actions that it enables for the colonizers and the political legacies that it leaves for the postcolonial nation-states.

Sam Ferguson : These videos and podcasts have been so insightful. I’m writing on post-colonialism for my degree at Glasgow uni and your work has been a great reference point, thank you so much :)
Aamir Ali Asad : Sometimes, I am off my senses on how sensitive and delicate ideas have been carved out and finished through the minds of scholars like post colonial theorists. Hats off to mentors like you, sir. Making these ideas understandable is a big deal of course.
Habib Ur Rehman : just Wow, after listening to this lecture I feel enlightened. amazing effort Sir
Everything isPolitics : Thanks for this informative piece. I can't help but wonder what the world and these individual regions (countries, in modern consciousness) would have looked and functioned like, before the Europeans arrived? Where there more cohesion between the different tribes? What political and social systems did they practice etc etc? So much erasure and distortion of crucial human history that we ought to retrieve. We can't just employ a 'Western' ideologies/philosophies in tackling global problems - they're somewhat reductive for starters.
Mahjbeen Khan : Sir
Your videos r Realy helpful in understanding the post - colonial concepts .
