Thank you for watching this video. I hope that you keep up with the weekly videos we post on the channel, subscribe, and share with those who need to see them. Your comments are our oxygen, so please take a second and say hi ;-)
Johan Nilsson : I’ve had mine for 25 years and I will never sell it. It was manufactured the same year I was born :) I think the filter is amazing with a warmth and very nice resonance. The one oscillator but with combination functionality can sound really phat! A bit of processing, a delay and reverb and this synth reaches the skies. The presets however are more like toys...

Frank Drebbin : That's litteraly a Nintendo NES music generator!
Daniel Heslop : This was my first synth in the mid 70's. I vastly underestimated it at the time, because it wasn't a minimoog, but actually it was a remarkable little synth, and with a little delay and chorus, it sounded awesome. I miss it and would love to get one again some day.
Ron Richerson : I bought one of these brand new in 1973, and haven't seen one since. I wish you would have spent more time digging in rather than make fun of it. I got a lot of cool sounds out of it which worked in a lot more songs than you would have thought. I can't remember what I did with it, but it was very cool to see it again anyway.
Fj Francois : Nice sound 4:54 5:37 presets it sounds better than the analog synth on my JD-XI

Roland SH-1000 - the ten classic factory patches

The ten classic factory patches on the SH-1000, Roland's first synth from 1973.
LFOVCF : Capable of MUCH better patches than the factory ones. This thing can make some sweet and silky sounds.
Miki : So lovely tuba and piano sounds;-)Great demo;-)
BlixtenMarlowes : Excellent! :-)
PINKBOY1006 : is this monophonic or poly? never researched this particular model.
Lionbridge : Nice condition unit.

Roland SH-1000 | Japan's First Portable Synthesizer

It's Father's Day, and today one of our favorite dads in the store is taking a look at one of the grandfathers of portable synthesizers, the SH-1000. Take a look at this historical piece, derived from early organ technology, and tell us your thoughts. Would you use one of these as a solo machine in your rig?

Sounds start at 5:06

Alex Ball : I've had one of these on loan for over two years now. Quite a quirky little synth, but it has some tricks up its sleeve as you were mentioning.

I think this was actually Roland's fourth product because the Rhythm-77 (TR-77), 55 and 33 were all released in 1972. They were basically hangovers from Mr K's Ace Tone days.

On another note - the original SH-1000 prototype was found recently (which really was the first synth Roland built). It's a hell of a story, but it's not mine to tell. :)
Raymond Castile : This is probably my second favorite synth I own. It has a lot of character. Add an expression pedal to sweep the filter and it becomes very emotive.
Retro Plus : Interesting piece of kit, it sounds super vintage and has a very similar sound to the casio VL-1 actually
DJTricks1 : SH-1000, favourite analog synth, onto my second, absolutely mint condition, added a kenton cv/gate kit , put it through a boss pedal and your not going to sleep ..lol
Now inspired ,waiting for mine to self calibrated … lol ..leave it on for 30mins or longer! ;) Very important!
Btw IMO the SH-1000 is a dark horse, just listen to Imagination UK Band..Music & light, Changes..etc that bassline always thought it was the TB-303! Anyway good episode! Bless!
geoffk777 : The ARP Pro-Soloist wasn't the only competitor. Moog made the Moog Satellite, another mostly preset, single oscallator synth with organ-style tabs. It was licensed to the Thomas organ company and was built into some of theor home organs, as well as the Cordovox CDX-0652 "White Elephant" combo stage organ. It was also sold by Moog as a stand-alone synth. Honestly, it was mostly crap, but it was still many people's first introduction to synthesizers in the 70's.

I just bought an SH-1000 online, so wish me luck. I'm hoping that it doesn't need too much work.
