Wastewater Treatment Process Control Testing

Today we show how we at the Athens Wastewater Treatment Plant go through a day of process control testing to assure the best effluent quality control by doing a Settleometer test, Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids (MLSS), Volatile Suspended Solids, pH, Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, Oxygen Reduction Potential (ORP) and visual inspection.

ecafsinep : this is great. my plant is just now building it's own laboratory and i'm preparing to do our own testing, starting with solids testing. i don't have my stantard methods book in front of me, but doesn't it state for MLSS you simply follow TSS procedure, which is drying for an hour, then add on the muffle furnace procedure?
Danielle Morrison : At 4:15 you say your are calculating your mixed liquor suspended solids number. The test you demonstrated was for total solids (SM-2540 B). You would have to filter your sample and weigh your dried filter paper residue to get the suspended solids number (SM-2540 D).
