그동안 수많은 동영상, 게임, 애니메이션 등에서 사용하던 어도비 플래시(Adobe Flash)가 드디어 완전하게 공식적으로 지원이 중단되었다. 애플(Apple)이 아이폰(iPhone)을 내놓았을 때부터 이 플래시 사용에 대한 경고를 하면서 지원을 하지 않은 것으로 유명한데, 이제는 전 산업에서 플래시가 퇴출되었다고 볼 수 있다.
문제가 있어서 사용을 중지하고, 퇴출한 것은 좋은 일인데, 또 다른 문제는 그간 사용하던 관련 콘텐츠를 활용하지 못하게 된 것이다.
이렇게 중단된 플래시 파일(SWF)을 그래도 꼭 활용해야 하는 경우에 참고할 수 있는 방법을 소개한다.
1. PC에 저장 중인 플래시 파일을 실행할 때. 플래시 게임을 즐기거나 동영상을 감상하고 싶을 때.
2. 홈페이지에 내장된 플래시 파일을 재생할 때. 플래시로 만들어진 게임이나 동영상 강의 같은 콘텐츠를 볼 때.
3. 자신이 운영 중인 웹 서버에서 플래시 파일을 기본으로 제공하고자 할 때. 홈페이지에 접속한 사용자가 데스크톱 PC든, 스마트폰이든 아무런 제약 없이 플래시 콘텐츠를 즐기게 하고 싶을 때.
4. 자신이 가지고 있는 플래시 동영상을 MP4 파일로 변환하고 싶을 때.
