*서울특별시 동대문구의 서쪽에 위치한 동이다. 용두동은 법정동명이며,
용두1동과 용두2동의 2개 행정동으로 이루어져 있다. 관내에 구청이 소재하며, 정릉천(貞陵川)이 지난다.
동 이름은 이 지역을 감싸고 있는 산의 모습이 마치 용의 머리와 같이 생겼다 하여 용머리 또는 용두리라고 부른 데서 유래하였다.


*It is located in the west of Dongdaemun-gu Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Yongdu-dong is composed of two administrative dongs in Yongdu 1-dong and Yongdu 2-dong.
The district office is located in the jurisdiction, and Jeongneungcheon Stream passes.
The name derives from the fact that the mountain surrounding the area was called Yongmeori or Yongduri because it looked like a dragon's head.
