Sony NEX-3N review | Engadget

Last year, Sony's peculiar move to beef up its entry-level NEX left us puzzled, and generally unimpressed. The NEX-F3 was a fine mirrorless camera by most accounts, but its larger footprint left us hoping for a next-gen offering more in line with its predecessor, the NEX-C3 -- a tried-and-true shooter that many Engadget staffers still turn to for review photos and trade shows, thanks to its consistent performance and light weight. We were quite relieved, then, to see that this year's device represented a return to the 2011 design, with a few very compelling additions, to boot.

Gas'n'Oil : Is this worth the savings over the Nex 5R? I can get the 3N for $440AU, of 5R for $610? Is the price jump for the 5R really justufiable? Thanks!

YensR : I bought two nex5 back in the day and I agree with your recommendation for the newer 5 models. The original 5 has some annoying quirks, but for stills, I find it very usable, even 10 years later! Good to see a 2020 video discussing these cameras :)
Audrey Aud : I’ve the NEX 5n and NEX 7 which I use with both “Zonies,” and Vintage Rollei/Zeiss MF lenses.

I love the bigger light gathering pixels of the 5n for night and low light shots, and the 7 for Video, daytime shooting, and big prints.

I love the almost “Medium Format Feel” of the NEX 7’s Negatives, because the software corrects soooo much aberration, distortion, and has such wonderful HDR like Jpegs
Richard Crowe : I use a Sony NEX-7 camera which I converted to full time infrared photography... Great little camera at a great price. I love the size and the fact that it will accept all of my e-mount lenses as well as lenses converted to e-mount with adapters....
bobwinslow : Do any of these compete with the Eos M? Especially with the Magic Lantern firmware, but also with the stock one. I've been thinking of the 5R and 5T over these, and trying to figure out which to get for my sister. It would be nice to keep her in the E mount so I can help her find more glass (more familiar with E mount from my A6300), but the Eos M is super appealing to me for the aftermarket firmware support, and it's not like EF glass is bad or hard to come by. Might even be better for her. IDK.
