Normally there is a permanent supply to the emergency battery (not switched) which ensures that the battery receives a permanent power supply. If the battery was supplied by a switched live and this was turned off for a number of hours, the battery would eventually drain. Is there a way via a circuit design that the battery could recognize if the live feed was just switched off via a local switch versus a power outage for example from the mains supply?
