@cameralabs : I haven't tested the 790, so can't say, but the 860 and the TZ5 are two of my favourite compacts! It's a case of boiling down which features mean more to you. Check our full reviews of both cameras at cameralabs . com to compare them...
@cameralabs : Only you can decide which features are more important to you! I'd say the 10x zoom of the TZ5 is ultimately more userful, but you may prefer the look and feel of the 860 IS. I'd recommend you pick up both cameras in person to try them for size. Any other Qs, feel free to post on the cameralabs forum!
@ayekappy : Nice review. I actually learned a little bit about the SD870. I didn't realize things like grid mode etc. Thanks.
I can't wait to get my SD870 and install CHDK. Canon should just support CHDK so that they will totally dominate the point and shoot market. :)
@cameralabs : Hi, I've not tested the Ixus 950 / 960, but even though it has higher resolution (12 Mpixels), I prefer the spec of the 860 IS - I prefer its wider angle lens and bigger 3in screen. So that means I'd also prefer the TZ3 to the 950 / 960, especially with its 10x zoom.
@cameralabs : If you increase the ISO sensitivity, the camera will be forced to use a faster shutter speed - but put it back to auto afterwards as it reduces the quality. Or, try a sports scene preset mode.
Canon IXUS 132 Lens Error repair FAIL | A Time lapsed video on the disassembly of the camera.
In this video,. i was trying to repair a faulty Canon IXUS 132 camera that is failing for Lens Error which is meant to be discarded. The lens of the camera is not able to retract. This is my first time disassembling an IXUS 132, so, i was figuring it out as i go along.
Once i managed to get to the lens assembly, i tried to open it up and check if any gear is stuck.But after a few attempts to re-adjust the lens assembly, i discovered that i had accidentally torn one of the flex cable on the lens assembly.
This repair is a fail!
Since I have no intention of spending money on replacement parts, this camera will most likely be going into the recycling bin for sure.
While this repair attempt is not successful, i thought i might as well share out this video even though this is a failed repair. There might be someone out there who might be curious or needs to have a detailed look at how to dissemble this same camera before attempting a repair.
There are a few detail photos of this camera, like the main board etc on my blog.

Hopefully, this video can be of some use to someone out there.

@stagesixx : Valuable video even though it didn’t work. Always with these things, even if you find and fix the problem, getting it back together successfully is a big part of it too.
@jankolar5612 : The lens of this camera (and all similar, for example IXUS 185) is very poorly designed. A thin plastic axis for highly stressed gears is really bad example of costs cutting.
@pierrehajj2889 : Hello, is it possible to bypass the zoom problem and use the camera? Please help me
@blackdiamond3835 : Nice work
@hirakshrestha8294 : I got the same problem with my camera, Canon IXUS 210.
