■ 땅끝에서 만나는 세계유산 대흥사
지구상 산속에 절이 이처럼 많고 아름다운 나라는 없다. 2018년 세계유산에 등재된 명칭도 ‘산사, 한국의 산지승원’이다. 등재된 대흥사 등 7개 산사는 주변 숲과 조화를 이루면서 한국 산지 가람의 정형을 간직하고 있다. 국토 최남단 땅끝 대흥사는 두륜산 아래 한송이 연꽃 모양으로 자리하고, 계곡을 중심으로 남원과 북원이 배치된다.
대웅전 삼층석탑(보물 제320호)과 북미륵암 마애불(국보 제308호) 등은 대흥사가 천년의 역사를 간직하고 있고, 조성 기록물이 발견된 대웅전 삼불좌상(보물 제1863호, 1612년 조성)은 오랜 세월 대흥사가 지역민의 정신적 요람이었음을 알려준다. 산사에 담긴 천년의 세월 속엔 선사의 발걸음이 새겨져 있고, 그것은 인류의 오랜 염원과 닿아있다.
■ 보배 그물의 인연, 인드라망
인드라망은 관계의 그물이다. 도솔천 내원궁 지붕에 걸린 거대한 그물인데, 그물코마다 보석이 박혀있어 서로가 서로를 비춘다. 모든 것은 홀로 존재하지 않고, 서로 의존하며 살아가는 부처의 깨달음을 담은 생태계의 그물이라고 할 수 있다.
겨우살이 씨앗은 어떻게 참나무에 뿌리 내릴까?
연잎에 비가 쏟아지면 어떤 기이한 세상이 펼쳐질까?
대흥사 부도전에 있는 소나무 꽃가루의 방랑은 어디를 향한 것인가?
표충사 동백꽃을 바라보는 행자와 5백 년 전 서산대사의 유지는 어떻게 연결되는가?
■ 세상은 왜 한송이 꽃인가?
대흥사는 차의 성지로 불린다. 초의선사가 1830년대 우리나라 최초의 다서인 ‘동다송’등을 저술하고 차를 직접 재배한 곳이다. 다선일미, 차와 참선은 하나다.
차나무 씨앗이 발아하고, 연둣빛 잎사귀를 내고, 꽃을 피우며 열매를 맺기까지의 과정을 찬찬히 들여다본다. 차의 청량한 기운이 우리 몸에 들어오기까지…. 작은 씨앗이 품은 우주를 본다.
송악이 꽃을 피우면 선방에서는 무슨 일이 일어날까?
꽃은 나비를 부르고, 나비는 천년 석탑 위에서 날개돋이를 한다.
세계일화(世界一花), 세상은 한송이 꽃이다. 깊고 무궁한 세계를 품으면 누구나 ‘지지않는 한송이 꽃’이 될 수 있다.

저는 땅끝마을 해남에 다녀왔습니다. 전남 해남 두륜산 대흥사에 다녀왔습니다.
대흥사는 유네스코 세계유산에 ‘산사, 한국의 산지승원’에 지정된 사찰입니다. 역사적으로도 의의가 있고, 세계적으로도 아름다움을 인정받은 사찰입니다.
대흥사는 통일신라 말기 이전에 창건된 고찰이며, 초의선사로 인해서 우리나라 차 문화의 성지가 된 사찰입니다.
천 분의 부처님을 모신 천불전, 33관음신을 모신 응신전을 볼 수 있습니다.
또한 임진왜란 때, 승병으로 활약하였던 서산대사의 의발을 전수한 대흥사 표충사에는 서산대사, 사명대사, 처영대사의 영정이 봉안되어 있습니다.
호국도량이면서 차의 성지인 아름다운 대흥사에 저와 함께 가보실까요?

“Before the Buddhas of the past were born, there has always been this one thing, infinitely
bright and ethereal.
Consequently, this one thing has never been born and has never died.
It cannot be named or conceptualized.”
Therefore, the contents of the “Mirror of Zen” is said that Seon is to assimilate Buddha's mind, ''Gyo'' (doctrinal study) is Buddha's word.
I think of Seon Master Seosan, was the author of the “Mirror of Zen” and contributed to the State by organizing monk troops during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592.
After the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, the robe and alms bowl of Seon Master Seosan was passed down to Daeheungsa Temple.
During the 17th and 18th centuries, Daeheungsa Temple in Haenam served as the major bodhi-mandala of Seosan Order for both Zen and the Doctrine.
Daeheungsa Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed Buddhist mountain monastery in Korea.
Daeheungsa Temple is historically meaningful and recognized for its beauty worldwide.
I've been wanting to come to Haenam, but I'm finally here.
I wanted to introduce you to Daeheungsa Temple, a beautiful temple in Haenam.
We've come a long way.

The signboard of the One Pillar Gate reads "Daeheungsa Temple of Duryunsan Mountain."
There are 80 sarira-stupas and pagodas in the low wall.
Most of the sarira-stupas here were built in the late Joseon Dynasty.
Duryunsan Mountain used to be called Daedunsan Mountain, so the original name of the temple was Daedunsan Temple.
It was Daedunsa Temple, but it was renamed Daeheungsa Temple in the early modern era.
When you go to Daeheungsa Temple, the first bridge you can meet is Prajna Bridge.
Seon Master Seosan considered Daedunsan Temple as a place that will not be under the impact of the three calamities and be undestroyed for 10,000 years.
Accordingly, his robe and alms bowl was transferred to the temple in 1604 (37th year of King Seonjo’s reign),
Since then, Daeheungsa Temple is the place where Korean Buddhism lineage and authority so It has been transformed into an important bodhi-mandala in Korean Buddhist history.
In particular, 13 great patriarchs and 13 great instructors were produced in this temple.
Daeheungsa Temple bacame a sacred place for tea culture of Korea because of Seon Master Choui, which is famous for its tea among the 13 great patriarchs.
Accordingly, at this time, it is difficult to determine the exact time period of the founding of Daeheungsa Temple.
Nevertheless, it can be roughly estimated in light of the artifacts and the historical circumstances.
First, the Three-Story Stone Pagoda (Treasure No. 320) found in front of Eungjinjeon Hall is estimated to have been built in the late Unified Silla Period.
Daeheungsa Temple is said to have been built before the end of Unified Silla.
This is Nirvana Gate that you meet after passing the One Pillar Gate and Prajna Bridge.
The signboard in front of Nirvana Gate reads "Daeheungsa Temple in Duryunsan Mountain" and the signboard inside of Nirvana Gate reads "Haetalmun."
Through Nirvana Gate, it means through which one may attain Nirvana.
Inside Nirvana Gate, there are not Four Heavenly Kings, but Manjushri and Samantabhadra.
This is Samantabhadra, who is riding an elephant. Bodhisattva is a symbol of Great Vow and Action.
On the opposite side of Samantabhadra is Manjushri, who is riding a lion.
Manjushri is a symbol of wisdom.
When people think of Buddha in their hearts, their minds are filled with the marks of Buddha and appearance of Buddha.
When you think of Buddha, Buddha appears in your heart, so your heart is like creating Buddha.
Therefore, this heart is Buddha.
Daeungbojeon Hall is currently under repair.
As Daeungbojeon Hall is under repair, I can not see Daeungjeon Hall, Myeongbujeon Hall, Eungjindang Hall, and the Three-Story Stone Pagoda.
Inside the temporary hall of Daeungbojeon Hall, there is a wooden Triad-Buddha made in the late Joseon Dynasty, a Main platform painting created in the Gwangmu era of the Daehan Empire, as well as Amrita painting, Three pitaka painting, Guardian painting and Seven stars painting.
This is Gaheoru Pavilion.
The signboard of Gaheoru Pavilion is written by Mr. Yi Sam-man.
Inside Gaheoru Pavilion, there is Cheonbuljeon Hall with a thousand Buddhas.
Cheonbuljeon Hall is specified as Treasure No. 1807.
After being burned in 1811 (the 11th year of King Sunjo's reign), it was reconstructed in 1813.
The signboard of Cheonbuljeon Hall is handwritten by Mr. Yi Gwang-sa.
He is a master calligrapher recognized by Chusa Kim Jung-hee.
Cheonbuljeon Hall is a pavilion of multiple complex bracket styled hip-and-gable roof with 3 kan wide by 3 kan deep and it was built during the late Joseon Period.
There are a thousand Buddhas inside, and It is based on the idea that anyone can become a Buddha.
In front of Cheonbuljeon Hall, there is a hall called Yonghwadang, which is designated as Jeollanam-do Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 93.
It is currently used as a living quarters for the student monks.
