In this video, we'll take a look at the new breed of mirror-less cameras that are being introduced to the market. Basically mirror-less cameras are designed to direct the image from the sensor straight to an electronic viewfinder, effectively bypassing the traditional mirror reflex system found in traditional SLR and DSLR cameras.
By doing away with the traditional design, these cameras can be made much smaller and combine some of the best features of DSLR cameras and point-and-shoot. The size and ergonomics are unbelievably good. The low light performance and resolution are on par with most modern DSLR's. You also have the option of interchangeable lenses. And because the sensor is so close to the lens flange, if you can find an adaptor you can use almost any lens you want on these things. Old C-mount television studio lenses? Obsolete Canon FD manual focus lenses? No problem! Get a $30 adaptor for the lens you want to use and you're in business!
Kyle Stokes : I have the utmost respect for you Sir, for showing us “The Art and Science,” of lenses are where the photo is produced on a medium - be it Film, Digital, or Either, teaching us the timeless “tools,” of the art be it Medium Format, 35mm, of JPEG, and what that means for our finishes product, and most important “wallet,” you are a hero of my life, No, You are a Legend, Sir!!!!
Rascal Husky : I have a Sony nex 6 , the down side is the battery life is very short . The camera is a positive experience.
Leyla uluçay : Nice rewiew.
Jason Williams : where can i get the lens adapter ??
Smoky Donuts : I just upgraded to the Nex 7 in 2018.
Darron Saunders : Hi Ted - I've been offered a NEX-7 at a very low price - just wondering if you'd feel this camera is stil relvanyt in 2017 - many thnaks again, and thanks for providing this video and all your others - keep up the great work!
Boom India : u cannot compare with dslrs
ECO OWN MEDIA : It have no touch screen.. In this time touch screen must needed..
William Lesourd - Photographer : Just checked your video. Thanks Ted.
I bought my NEX-7 in 2012 I think, and it is still going strong, although the screen is no longer working and starts looking flimsy. I fitted a Contax/Zeiss 45mm Planar f/2 lens (I also use the 90mm Contax/Zeiss Sonnar), considered to be in its time, the best lens in the World. Not sure this is true, however, whenever I am not moving too much or if the body is on a tripod, the sharpness is incredible. Unfortunately, I mostly shoot handheld and it is not stabilized...
The lenses are fitted with a Metabones adaptor which keeps getting loose and is a pain sometimes to put back together. It is heavy also, as well as being expensive. Not sure whether Metabones manage to manufacture a better Sony to Contax G adaptor.
Please check my Instagram account if you'd like too, where a third of my photos there, posted after those about Karachi and Bucharest, were taken with the Sony NEX-7.
Hoping to get a full frame camera with a Sony sensor whenever that's possible. Thinking of the RX1rII or latest.
Vikingdescendent : The screen menu is as far as I'm concerned, is better than that of the a6000 series, right up to the a6500. The weak point is the setup menu. It's still ranks up there as a great camera and suitable for most needs.

A H : I bought an used Hasselblad Lunar which is a Sony Nex7 after using A6000 and A7r3 for years. Taking good picture is more about the photographer and what you shoot and less about the camera. I don’t shoot video or action so though I love the eye focus and body stabilization on A7r3, i still use A6000 all the time because it demands more on me and force me to polish my skills to control the camera. I bought a Hasselblad version of original Sony RX100 and love how Hasselblad did to the body, thus got the Lunar instead of Nex7. Nex 7 is a reliable and easy to use body, it has all the basics you need to take great pictures. As an old guy started photography with a Nikon F2, 100% manual, the fundamental training of understanding how to play with light, the shadow, the environment and your subject without replying the camera makes it so much fun. Don’t buy Nex 7 to shoot family, pet and friends, use your phone, buy a Nex 7 if you want to enjoy photography without spending an arm and leg, and there are a ton of good lenses to choose from now. Sigma 30mm f1.4 is great choice, cheap, fast and sharp. My favorite is Zeiss Batis 16mm, but it’s an overkill for Nex7 in 2020.
gordon cook : Eventhou I now have ff my good old NEX 7 are still used and a brilliant fall back camera. The NEX 7 still bows me . Took one to Thialand was brilliant and still surprised me, I still totally agree and recomend the Nex 7.
Ryan - nonsonounseduttore.com : Where did you take those pictures? What a beautiful place!
fercho ferchis : More reasons why I continue with my nex 7, it really continues to fight until now!
Harald Engels : I love my NEX-7. I have also some cameras from the A7 series but using the NEX-7 is easier and quick - a real no-brainer. It is the perfect camera for someone who wants to step into shooting stills at an affordable price. Combine it it with some affordable vintage lenses (e.g. Canon FD lenses with 24mm, 35mm and 50 or 55mm plus the Canon to NEX adapter, all from Ebay) or cheap Chinese manual APS-C lenses and you have everything what is needed to learn photography from the scratch. And the image quality of the NEX-7 is still top-notch.
Julhao : hey dude, this camera have a s-log perfil ?
everyday tenor : great video...thanks. How do you rank the Nex 6?
Mohamed Bouhou : What kind of lenses should I use with nex7?
pervin eken : Thanks for your valuable information !
