Always a fiercely competitive arena, the entry-level luxury compact sport sedan has seen a significant change over the last five years. As the horsepower war continues to escalate, every brand is now looking to one up each other with every new model and this is where #Lexus has seriously started to lag behind with the current #LexusIS350. While other brands offer a forced induction 6-cylinder as their weapon of choice, Lexus soldiers on with a N/A V6 making only 311 HP, which was competitive back in the day. Today, it only makes 10 more ponies than a V6 Camry. Add in the small trunk, cramped rear seat room, and horribly dated infotainment system and the current #IS350 and the #LexusIS lineup in general is starting to look a little lost in this tough segment.
Redline Reviews : Hope everyone had a great weekend! Stay tuned for some fun bloopers at the end of this video. There was also a slight audio hiccup at 17:37 where our main mic cuts out because the battery died but thankfully, our backup mic picks up the rest and only last for about 30 seconds. How would you like to see Lexus reinvent the Lexus IS for the next generation? We see this car using the twin-turbo 3.5L V6 from the LS 500 and 10-speed transmission. Hopefully, Lexus doesn't disappoint in the coming years whenever a new generation is introduced!
Mdaniel : Yeah it's dated, but boy it will last forever....
Toyota4Life : Beautiful sport sedan.
Disagree with you this car has aged VERY well and still look modern and current inside and out. This car is fun to drive and this 2gr motor is beast for a NA V6 and it’s a damn near bulletproof engine. Great buy
NAVE : I'd take this over any of the competition. It's looks fantastic, it's extremely reliable and cheap to maintain, and I like the way it drives. I've driven plenty of IS350 F sports from the dealerships lol. I don't care that it's slightly dated in fact I prefer older vehicles to new ones.
Nick Babeaux : I think its aged well, I think that the 2014 when I see them on the road still look very modern, I mean obviously they still look very similar to this refresh model and they will probably look modern relative to other car designs for the next five or six years...
2019 Lexus IS | Identity Crisis | TestDriveNow
Look at Lexus’s current vehicle offerings and like every automaker you’ll find standouts like the LS, LC, ES and then some real dogs like the GX, LX and well should we put the IS in that category too? Last redesigned for the 2014 model year it remains the cheapest way to get into a new Lexus sedan with a starting price of around $40,000. And in F SPORT livery it’s still turning heads! No saggy skin or bald spots, 6 years later and the IS looks as spry as ever. But appearances can be deceiving and as a long gaze turns into meaningful conversation the IS effuses a much different vibe.

Peter 63 : I still think this car looks great. The color combo on this one is perfect in my eyes. However, you can pick up a CPO IS350 F-Sport for about 30K. Better value and overall performance.
Sean McCaffrey : Agreed. This vehicle looks nice, goes fast in IS350 F Sport trim and will easily last to 250k miles. Unlike the fragile European competitors, this car will stay out of the shop except for basic maintenance and the European competitors will cost you at least $10k more with the same equipment. If you have time and cash to burn, a German car will fit that bill.
anasim : Shame on Lexus for neglecting the IS.
Jfish901 : The seats are very comfortable to me - the head rest doesn't tilt so far forward like other modern cars (even compared to new Camry, which I cross-shopped)
Ryan Archibald : Maybe this car doesnt appeal to everyone but I think it's so comfortable, stylish, and I love how I can count on the vehicle to last.
A few upgrades in the tech and i could drive it forever. Makes going to work such a pleasure. Coudnt imagine any other ride.
2019 Lexus ES 350 F-Sport – Baby LS Wants Younger Buyers
For nearly 30 years, the Lexus ES has consistently attracted luxury sedan shoppers wanted comfort, space, and value. Over the years, Lexus followed that same formula and the result in the best-selling Lexus sedan despite its very humble FWD Camry based roots. For 2019, Lexus hopes to inject a healthy dosage of youth to the mix with the very first F-Sport ES. It takes the sleek design from the flagship LS with nearly as much rear seat space as its much larger sibling. The 302 HP V6 still drives the front wheels, but the result of the new GA-K platform makes this 2019 model the sportiness ES Lexus has ever built.
Umaxen 00 : The ES is crazy reliable. My friend's 2005 has 300,000 miles and has had extremely limited maintenance. It has never broken down and still feels like a new car...
Scott W : I think Lexus is doing a FANTASTIC job with their interiors. They’re so unique compared to the compared to the competitors. Lexus is still actually integrating the nav screen into the design of the dash instead of carelessly sticking it there (Cough cough, BMW/Audi/Mercedes).
The gauge cluster and placements of the drive dynamics select are also really cool.
Senat Abazi : Dude, you are hands down the best reviewer to watch. I’ve been following your channel for a couple years now, and your content never fails to impress! Thanks for all you do! :)
donte alexander doss : Great review as always! I’m really considering going back to Lexus (my first love as an enthusiast & first lux as an owner was the ES) except for the horsepower. For now I’ll stay with Infiniti but LOVE what Lexus has done with the ES.
Although it does remind me of the Mazda 6, it desperately needed the dope styling cues that the GS and LS received; love the direction in which Lexus is headed.
Ben : Very detailed and complete review Sofyan, thank you. For me, that touch pad is a deal breaker. Potentially very dangerous to use when driving. There still seems to be this disconnect between people who design these things and using them in the real world.
