Double Locking Standing Seam Copper on a Low Pitch Roof
We used an older, tried, and true method to create this double-locking standing seam on this low pitch copper roof. In addition, there is a flat-locking soldered blind valley on this house and an arched copper entry roof.
For a look at the entire roof, here's a related video:

airborn101st : Very clean and professional. What kind of sealant were you using?
Christopher Danjou : Love that half round gutter
Bearded Roofer : Why didn't you do a 1" flat lock seam at the overlap? Also, I didn't see any soldered joints anywhere, caulking eventually fails.
Jim S : guess TX is different than most projects and training. Copper development association and IBC would recommend flat seam copper. At minimum 1-1/2" DLSS with inseam and full coverage of bituthene underlayment. gutters are hung 2+ inches too high along the eaves.
Brady Williams : Why would you put a horizontal seem there? Should have ran the panel in one piece.
How the blind rivet works
The blind rivet is a mechanical fastening element consisting of a bushing and a mandrel to be applied through a riveting tool.
By placing the blind rivet into the hole drilled in the detail to be fixed, the riveting machine pulls up the mandrel that makes the bushing expand until complete tightening of the parts to be joined. For over 50 years we have been producing a wide range of products in different materials, sizes, colours and application functionality.
Special rivets manufactured according to drawing are supplied on request.
Products in aluminium, copper, steel and stainless alloys with anodizing and painting surface treatments are available in different packages suitable for every use.

chocolate squiggle : Thank you, I've wondered for ages how rivets work. I watched several other videos but they were mostly how to use the tool and didn't clearly show what magic was happening at the back side. The 10 seconds from 0:42 in this video is gold - just shows exactly how the rear sheath is mushroomed into place. Thanks very much. I'll sleep easier tonight :-)
tractorback76 : Finally a video of how the damn thing mechanicaly works, thank you!!!
NZR : So Mandrel will be chopped off after riveting the bush ?
gemini rox : the does head break off the nail?
Fantazier1 : I liked everything about this video, except for the computerized voice. Can't stand those things. You couldn't find an actual human to narrate a 4:32 video?
