"Ama is a silent film. It tells a story everyone can interpret in their own way, based on their own experience. There is no imposition, only suggestions.
I wanted to share my biggest pain in this life with this film. For this is not too crude, I covered it with grace. To make it not too heavy, I plunged it into the water.
I dedicate this film to all the women of the world."

"Ama est un film sans parole qui raconte une histoire que chacun peut interpréter à sa manière, selon son propre vécu, tout est suggéré, rien n’est imposé.
J’ai voulu mettre dans ce film ma plus grande douleur en ce monde. Pour qu’elle ne soit pas trop crue je l’ai enrobée de grâce. Pour qu’elle ne soit pas trop lourde je l’ai plongée dans l’eau.
Je dédie ce film à toutes les femmes du monde."

Andrea Kurotová : My interpretation of the video: The rain symbolize tears. When you are in the rain no tears are visible. Heavy rain means a lot of tears. When she is in the water it is like she is having a hard time. Why she is in the water? Because when you are having a hard time in life you often feel like you cannot breathe. In the water you also cannot breathe. She is dancing in the water slowly, she is scared, but she dances gracefully. She is making art out of pain. She's not complaining about circumstances, she takes advantage of them. The rain stops. She falls to the bottom of the pool but then she looks up and is slowly going up. To the surface. She suffered for long. She needs to breathe again. Buy she doesn't reach the top completely. You don't get rid of the pain completely. There will be times when you are going to be in pain again. The rain will come back again. But it's okay. Because even the bad thing can be good for something. You can make something amazing out of your pain. Just don't forget to take a moment to breathe, because of not you could drown in a water of pain. well I just wrote what came to my mind while watching this. Also I am fascinated by this video. Amazing work.
Kyo Haibaru : I’m surprised not many people understood the meaning behind the video, Julie said this video was a personal project about dealing with pain. At the start of the video she’s cradling her stomach, at the end of the video it says in dedication to her tiniest daughter. She mostly likely lost a child and this video is her expressing the loss.
Linda Severt : This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
Molly Zhang : No matter what personal pain she went through, she was able to use her body to express pain and struggle in a way that’s visceral and profound. Watching her dance relates to my own deep pain and struggles, as if they are happening now and I am re-experiencing it all, along with her experience of her pain, and I cried. It’s very beautiful.
Switch2501 : I think one of the most impactful parts of this (for me at least) is at the end where the breath she's been holding for so long breaches the surface, but she never does...
