Iphone 12 Pro Max vs Iphone 3Gs Camera Comparison - 11 Years apart

My first ever smartphone was an Iphone 3Gs so naturally when I found one for a great price on Facebook I snatched it. I remember I loved taking photos with the Iphone 3gs and I'd like to think it introduced me in to the world of photography.
It's 2021 now and my main phone is the Iphone 12 Pro Max. In this video I test cameras on both of these phones side by side but this time not to see which one is better. This time I want to see how far phone photography has come over the past 11 years.

When Apple launched the iPhone in 2007, no one imagined that in just 10 years it would become the most popular camera in the world. But it may not be surprising to photographers like Chase Jarvis who famously said, “the best camera is the one you have with you.” And owning an iPhone means a camera is with you at all times. A camera that lets you focus on pointing and shooting rather than adjusting dozens of complicated settings. This level of convenience is a big reason why it dominates the digital camera market today. But the iPhone’s camera hasn’t always been thought of so favorably. Let’s go back to 2007 and take a closer look at the camera included with the original iPhone...

Beeson’s Cars : The biggest jumps in camera quality to me (after having the flagship iPhone every year) had to be the 4, 4s, 6s+, and 7 plus. The 4 just completely demolished the 3GS’ camera with led flash and much better quality. The 8 megapixels on the 4S made zooming in look slightly better and just overall very good detail (you can still get awesome shots on a 4S today.) The 6s+ just made me realize that I legitimately didn’t need a separate camera for anything but professional photos. 12mp with 4K video was mind blowing to me with the amount of detail you could get on it. Plus the optical image stabilizing was crazy good (I had the 6 before it so it was my first experience with that. ) The 7 Plus’ telephoto lens was a game changer. Awesome portrait mode photos and ridiculous zoom on a phone. My X’s camera is better (obviously) but the jump from the 7 Plus to the X camera wise in normal use is really unnoticeable.
