Best Kindle Rival For Comics? | Onyx Boox Nova 3 Color eReader Review

Reviewing the Onyx Boox Nova 3 Color, a new all-colour 2021 eReader that rivals Kindles for comics, Manga and graphic novels. This Android 10 e-Reader can actually run Google Play apps and games, but it's designed for enjoying books on that 7.8-inch Kaleido Plus screen. However, the Boox Nova 3 Color is pricey and also suffers from ghosting, which detracts from the overall experience.

Onyx's display is bright and crisp, but the actual colour output is limited to just 4096 hues, while reproduction is rather muted. Still, you have full access to Amazon's Kindle library, as well as apps like Comixology and Marvel. You can also side-load PDFs, ePUBs and other comic files you may already own.

Battery life is one of the highlights of the Boox Nova 3 Color, offering ten or so hours of reading on top screen brightness. Plus there's Quick Charge support when you run out of juice.

If this eReader was cheaper and that ghosting issue gets sorted, it would be a fine way to enjoy Manga on the move. Here's hoping future updates sort that problem.

Gavin Pate : Great review! Perfect for those of us who are buying one specifically to use as a comic reader. Good to see that the kindle app functions well with the panel to panel view, as the 7.8" screen may be a little small for some comics. Anyone moaning about no mention of the different refresh rates available in this review, there are plenty of other reviews out there that do feature this, but don't touch on the comic reading side of things nearly as much......who buys kit based on a single review these days anyway, its always better to learn as much as you can
Daddy Karl Marx : This is perfect... besides the price, considering how it's pretty much only useful for reading, it's hard for me to justify the price when a tablet of a similar price can do so, so much more
Suncho : there are different refresh modes. some make refresh faster, some slower. depending on the content you want to switch between those
the ghosting is normal for e-ink. some of the refresh modes will introduce more of it, some will limit it almost completely.
michael scargill : Thanks Yes as others have said, there are four refresh modes available in Display and worth noting: Normal Mode for minimal ghosting though still noticeable refreshes on page turns; Speed Mode which I find to be a happy medium for reading my ebooks - a good balance between ghosting and refreshing - 2 Mode which is better for swiping through images but with more ghosting and then X Mode for video watching etc (not that I'd ever bother watching videos or playing games on an e-ink device!).
Pugwash : The google play services is probably the game changer for me. Just being able to install a kindle reader is good news for amazon.

eReader Meets Android: The Pandigital Novel

Pandigital's second stab at a color e-book reader running on the Android platform will hit stores next month at a price of just under $200.

다니엘의 기도는 응답됐고 70년이 채 되기 전에 유대민족의 첫 포로귀환이 시작됐습니다.

누군가 생명드려 말씀을 붙잡고 기도하면 민족이 사는 역사가 나타납니다.

북한 땅에서 노예처럼 살아가는 북한동포들이 자유롭게 예수믿고 예배하고 전도할 수 있는 복음통일이 속히 오도록 지금은 우리가 울며 금식하며 하나님께 생명드려 기도할 때입니다.
