Justin Parker : Great video! I had been struggling trying to get my new belt back on by putting it on the alternator last. Your method of putting it on the A/C compressor last worked the first time. Took me about 5 minutes. Thanks a lot!
F C : I had a bit of a tough time changing it last night on my 2012 Kia Optima SX with the 2.O T engine. Took me about an hour, mainly due to routing the belt through and getting it in place. I got the offset grench as well so it made it much easier. My car has 54k miles after 6 years and the old belt was still fine but changed it anyways. It is pretty hard to work on it but I guess all mechanical work is and I am no expert. Thanks a lot for posting this tutorial.
TheIc3m4n89 : Rich, thanks for the video. Getting the belt on over the AC compressor was killing me till I saw how you angled the wrench below the pipe where it wouldn't drop down and hit it after re applying tension! Thank you my friend! It worked on my 2.0T 13 Optima SXL!
TheToppingGroup : Great video. I spent a good part of the weekend trying to replace the belt on my wife's 2013 Optima, which appears to have the same engine. I ultimately could not succeed. I got the old belt off. But the replacement belt was just a bit too small to fit over the pulley flanges. I compared the old and new belt, and they were almost identical in size, but not exactly. I double checked the part number, and indeed I had the right belt. But it just would not fit. I am still a little puzzled by the problem. The tensioner went to the end of its travel, best I could tell. I finally put the old belt back on. It was also not very easy, but maybe due to age and stretching, I was able to put it back on. I have done serpentine belt replacements on a number of American and Japanese cars, but never encountered a problem like this. If I attempt it again, I might jack up the car and see if I can get a better shot at the tensioner from below.
BluesriderDF : Rich, thanks for posting.  I just changed the belt on my 2012 GLS for the second and final time.  First time at 80K, and I did it with a flat crescent wrench with some help from a tire iron to move the tensioner.  90 minutes of misery!  Changed it tonight in 30 min using the offset box wrench.  Still a challenge - I had to use a large flat blade between the fender and the box wrench to prevent it from slipping off the tensioner nut.  If this car makes it to 240K, I won't be the owner, so I won't be changing it!  The serpentine design on the 2.4 is RIDICULOUS!  WORST. DESIGN. EVER.  My 2017 Sonata Sport has 2 belts, and it looks a lot more sane of a layout.  IMO the best tool to use for the 2.4 is a flex head ratcheting wrench.  You don't have to deal with the AC pipes, and it's easier to get on & off the pulley.I wish everyone who tackles this belt change al the best.  I hated doing it!!

Kaleb Crafts : Hey Richard, I love your videos, thanks for taking the time to be so thorough.  Quick question, after you had the car back off the ramps and jack stands, was it difficult to get back under it to remove the fill level check plug?  My sonata is pretty low to the ground and I am big dude, so it isn't really easy to get under there.

K P : Thanks Richard for the video; it's amazing people are still commenting about 3 years after you posted it but that should show how indispensable things like this are for people who want to do it themselves. I did the drain/refill this past weekend on my 2013 Sonata after watching your video a few times and it went without issues. I actually used genuine Hyundai SP4-M fluid and used up about 3.5 quarts (of the 7.5 US Qts the transmission takes). Drain plug had a ton of ferrous material and there's no way you want that floating around in transmission. Again, much appreciated!
Ian Murphy : Awesome video! Thanks for walking us through the whole procedure the right way. I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, and it's the same set of steps with a slightly more cramped engine bay.
4jrgolf : Richard, been following your procedure to the tee. Done several drain & fills at 60k, but returned to the hyundai fluid on the last. Since then every 20k because of hard driving in the FL heat. In the meantime got 180k and it shifts like on day 1. Thanks!
