Guitar Center, and why BC Rich guitars are so hated.

I had a few things to say about BC Rich guitars and why I think they’ve retained their bad reputation from the 90s. This video was a start, albeit a slow one, to a channel I’ll be uploading to twice a week from now on. Keep your eyes peeled…

Gear used for the Demo:
-BC Rich Warlock Extreme EX
-Marshall JCM2000 DSL (1999)
-Heil Sound PR20/Celestion V30
-Sennheiser E906/Celestion Greenback
-Fender YJM Overdrive

Angus Orvid : I was an L.A. metal kid in the 80s, played the metal clubs as a shredder with my Charvels, Kramers and ESPs. A lot of my friends owned or coveted BC Rich. In those days they were very high quality, at least as good as Jackson and Core PRS. I'd say things went downhill when they came out with the Gunslinger, not that it was a bad guitar, but it opened the door to them selling lower priced bolt-ons, and then it was just a hop, skip and a jump to producing cheap bolt-ons overseas. The early American made Gunslingers were fine, as were their other superstrats, played in those days by Tony MacAlpine and David Chastain.
Martin Baker : I've been playing a BC Rich Ironbird bass since around 88' and I love it still today. I know that in the late eighties into the nineties they took alot of crap over how complicated the electronics were in some of the high end models ( just take a look at the top Bitchs from then), so I just find it a bit odd hearing that they are not complexed enough now. How times have changed.
PortalooSunset : I spent everything I had on a USA made Warlock in 1989 (made just before class axe took over) when I was 17 in the UK. I'm now 50, and living in the USA and I still have that guitar, and its still my favorite. It plays beautifully, and sounds great distorted which is how its played most of the time and it still looks awesome (its "glitter rock white"). They definitely seemed to go downhill in the 90s, especially the introduction of extremely cheap and poor quality guitars but there are still good ones made well after 1990 and they seem to be turning things around now.
Rick Crotts : One of the best guitars I've ever owned was a bronze series warlock. Neck/fretwork was immaculate. Only issue I had was staying in tune. That was easily fixed by replacing the tuner pegs with name brand units. I really wish I had never sold it. That BDSM humbucker is very underrated.
x4thMessiahx : I still have my first guitar which was a bronze series Warlock from lime 2006. Other than the pick ups dying because cheap pick ups suck, it still plays fairly well. A few friends had a Warlock or Mockingbird from the same series and they fell apart. My Warlock is old faithful for me lol I love it.

Ola Englund : Have a great Friday everyone!
HeatNationWPB : I'm almost embarrassed to say, but the bass player from my old high school glam metal band played a pink(ish) Warlock bass around 89' or so. We loved the look of it so much that our guitarist bought a matching Warlock guitar - same color and everything - so that they'd have matching pink Warlocks to start the set . We were SO cool lmao! ‍♂️‍♂️
John Nisbet : I had the electric blue version of this guitar, it was my first "proper" guitar. That's a blast from the past!
Riffking719 : Ola getting help with soldering, and gear makes me feel better.

We can’t be good at everything!
Angery German : What a badass guitar. Nice that it's in your hands after all these years.

Kvlt Bastvrd : Theory, Mike is actually a lizard which is why his eyes change color and why he has such technical ability.
Lonesome Dave : I purchased a Mockingbird in 1978. Loved it. I met Rick Derringer and he played my guitar. Awesome experience.
Nikki Kay : Man, this guitar is sweet, a friend of mine got one for 100$, and as a repair guy I should say this is is a solid piece of gear, build quality is fantastic. Absolutely love the shape! Wiring is crazy tho.
Monster Guitars : I love the Mockingbird.

It's coil splitting, rather than coil tapping. Coil tapping is were you switch between using the whole coil around a single coil and using only part of the wire. Coil splitting is where you use only one coil of a humbucker, as in this case.
Hannah Cope : Great to hear about this guitar in more detail. It looks awesome, such a nice red colour, it's a cool shape/design, it sounds killer too. Looking forward to the future reviews.
