Ludwig van Beethoven - Symphony no. 10
Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 10 in E flat major is a hypothetical work, assembled by Barry Cooper from Beethoven's fragmentary sketches. This title is controversial since it cannot be proved that all the sketches assembled were meant for the same piece. There is consensus, however, that Beethoven did intend another symphony.
cond. Walter Weller
Mischo Bogdanov : Sadly I died.
Art Vandelay : I'd give 10 years of my life to give 10 more to Beethoven.
thebest41or2 : No question...at least for me...that this was written by Beethoven. This piece carries his own musical fingerprints that nobody on earth mimic or come out with something close to it. Each musician has his own soul in his music, and this one definitely carries Beethoven’s. If only he had lived to finish it. Maybe destiny wanted Beethoven’s ninth to remain the pinnacle of symphonies. RIP Ludwig
David A : Whether this is considered a hypothetical work or not, elements of it that prove that the sketches it's taken from could only have been written by one person. It deserves recognition and Mr Cooper deserves congratulation.
Pierre Jacquart : Barry Cooper has done a remarkable job in bringing together fragments of very little readable scores left by Beethoven.

@iwavns : Why is "Cécile van de Sant, mezzosopraan" listed?
@aydenrodriguez5355 : Don’t get me wrong, every single one of Mahler’s symphonies are greater than phenomenal, real, and define. But besides the 7th and 9th, this has to be his most raw symphony. Even if left unfinished. I love every one of his symphonies. I’ve listened to all of them, except this one. Until today. I can’t get over how surreal it is. To me it’s his most moving. Especially that finale. Most might think differently. But I love this one. I can’t believe I didn’t give it a chance today. The finale kills me
@bcing75 : This last movement is so heart wrenchingly gorgeous it’s nearly unbearable. The anguish and pain in life that he so eloquently transcribed and transposed through music is unparalleled. Thank you Mahler.
@musingsofamusician4874 : Absolutely heartbreaking piece. One of my favorite moments is at 1:14:50, I can feel him yelling out in desperation. I feel this piece, despite all the things that happened and Alma breaking his heart due to infidelity, he ultimately forgives and still loves her. He's clinging on to life and not wanting her to be without him, willing to go to Sigmund Freud to do anything to salvage his marriage. The quote in the end that he wrote and the beautiful ending, he truly loved Alma.
As for the horror chord, I feel that represented the death of his daughter and how he felt about it. A parent losing their child, how heartbreaking it all was and how it affected his marriage. I also feel at the end, he also ultimately forgives himself. He probably blamed himself as to why his daughter died and why his marriage was falling apart. When I listen to this piece, I realize too often I look at my past mistakes and blame myself. Mahler near the end, he finally let's that all go and for me I get this brief moment of letting go too, so I cannot help and cry to myself. The story of this symphony is something I feel many can resonate with if they look deeper into it.
@naviddsiddiqui504 : Never before has this symphony sounded so exquisitely beautiful. Mahler would have been delighted.
