Lemon yellow is not a color I use all that often but I do like having it available on my palette for those rare occasions I do need it.

@moonspinners2360 : The only lemon yellow I’ll use is Daler Rowney, which is one of the few that’s beautifully transparent. As a fellow Brit, I’m surprised a Daler Rowney wasn’t included, they deserve more recognition considering they’ve been in business since 1783, older than even Windsor and Newton. Forgive my mini rant I enjoyed your video
@markdonovan1540 : This is a good comparison video, as all of your videos are. But the lemon/light yellows are often underestimated. I got into the lemon yellow colour from watching videos based on paintings in the style of Ron Ranson. He has a particular loose and atmospheric style that uses hake brushes and a reduced palette. The light colours are Raw Sienna and Lemon Yellow Hue.
@pastelglori : Thank you so much for this video. Lemon yellow is a staple in my palette, and I use it for almost all my paintings, and I am looking to refill mine with a single pigment and transparent one once it runs out. Your comparison is super helpful, and it's nice to see that Holbein's Imidazolone Lemon is comparable with DS (which is a lot more expensive here in Asia). Will be looking through your videos if there are vermilion hue/scarlet/warm red comparisons!
@aeli999 : From what I've read, if you use PY3, you should do a lightfast test on every tube you buy because even in the same brand the lightfastness can vary from batch to batch. So weird. I have both Winsor lemon and DS lemon yellow and I prefer the WN. The Winsor lemon is much cooler in person than it is showing on my screen. I have it as my cool yellow in my split primary palette. I love colors so I have way more palettes than any one person could possibly need. I do enjoy them all though. I don't have any cadmiums (though I love the way they look) because cadmium, however I do like to use cobalts (except cobalt violet) so I am not sure that's any better.
@cheryllapham6279 : Gorgeous yellows! I don’t keep cadmiums on my Plein air palette because I throw out my wash water outdoors, so I try to keep to earth friendly colors. I tried the White Night paints because they are so saturated and low price. But I was really disappointed in the mixes with their yellows, although it looks great here. Thanks for the comparisons. I’m going to have to look at the Windsor Lemon. I like that it doesn’t have a green cast. Thanks as always!
