Understanding Auto Insurance: What’s ‘Full Coverage’ Car Insurance?

Full coverage' car insurance doesn't actually exist. When people use that term, they often mean a combination of coverages. Get a primer on the types of coverage in a car insurance policy that help protect you and your vehicle.
@bigtex4058 : Coverage from Allstate means no coverage.
@nicolemontcadadupont935 : Allstate is horrible ...

My father had an accident around a year ago. He was waiting behind another car at a red light when a car behind him who was going over 40mph on a 25mph street hit my father from behind so hard he ended up hitting the car that was in front of him. Allstate claimed it was my father's fault( LIKE HOW WAS IT HIS FAULT WHEN HE WAS WAITING ON A RED LIGHT ??) Allstate refused to pay him for his car which was obviously a total loss as it collided both front and back even our local police said my father wasn't at fault which thanks to Police getting involved was how he was finally payed.

May 4th, 2023 my 2019 car was stolen from my home, I reported my car stolen to local police and file a claim to my insurance. Allstate immediately acted hostile towards me and even said since I am young ( 20s) it was me who told someone to steal my car so I could get payed ( I still owe over $4k on it to the bank) I felt discriminated and even made me feel horrible for filing a claim. The guy in charged of my claim (ADAM ROSALES) belittled me for been a young woman, my car was found across the border I was quiet happy to have my car back( even tho it took until almost July to get it back) when I saw my car I actually cried ( my car was in perfect condition only had 18k miles despite been a 2019 car ) when I saw my car it had over 30k miles and was in a horrible state ( wheels bend, windows smashed, paint scrapped, missing parts, crashed from the back, missing headlights, no wipers, front doors ripped apart from the inside, back seat ripped, driver seat missing) this to me had to be a total loss there is no way the car could get fixed to how it was without spending a fortune. Allstate said it was in "good condition" and was reparable I was shocked how was the car in good condition looking the way it did. Allstate wanted to repair it using SECOND HAND PARTS AND JUNK PARTS they didn't wanted to repair it with original parts and even refused to take the car to where I wanted it to be taken to which was where I bough it ( Kia National City) Allstate has finally accepted to take my car where I want and after evaluated the total cost to get it repaired comes to $16k and Allstate doesn't want to pay over $10k despite me having FULL COVERAGE and pay over $300 a month at this point they could just declare it a total loss and pay me what they said $22k but they prefer to just pay to get it repaired what I hate the most is they want to raise my payment because of this WHEN IT WASNT MY FAULT I didn't crashed it it was STOLEN I am just waiting for it to get repaired to move insurance State Farm seems better my family ( aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents etc) moved to that insurance they all had Allstate but had so many problems I guess we also leaving. Allstate is nice, reachable, professional and such ONLY if there is no problems but as soon as u file a claim for a stolen, car accident or home insurance they suddenly become unreachable, unprofessional, and hostile.
@Golden-us3hj : Good for the people who need it, unnecessary costs and coverage for those who don’t like many of the cautious and higher skilled drivers on the road today. I’m sure insurance serves a purpose, but the risks are far fewer today, and as other countries or states have shown, not having insurance mandates is just as safe than to have it, as in accidents did not increase with fewer insured drivers on the road, even though New Zealand is a lot smaller than bigger countries, accidents still happened less frequently than those with insurance coverages like the US, and the safety rating for New Zealand is better. I believe it should be similar to New Hampshire or New Zealand with a “driver beware” approach, you can choose to drive uninsured but at your discretion, it would lead to less unemployment, better mobility for better jobs, and better overall economic activity. It may increase drivers on the road but benefit businesses and the economy through productivity from increased employment and greater traffic for businesses from increased mobility to lower income citizens that can drive into town and spend that money to support local businesses, rather than the local insurance monopoly. To add, allowing for drivers to exempt themselves, saves tens of thousands over time, money which could be used for other crucial personal needs like education, healthcare, or investment.
@butterflygirl3359 : I have been an Allstate car insurance policy holder in NJ since 1992. I never had a problem with them until May 2, 2023 when I received a letter from them telling me that they had petitioned the NJ Department of Banking to increase my car insurance rate by 39%. THIRTY NINE PERCENT. I called the customer service line and they told me it to worry because the increase would not take place until September!!!!! They also told me that this was for EVERYBODY, not just me, as their costs had gone up recently due to Bidenflation and let’s not forget NJ’s giving drivers licenses to illegals along with their dollar a day Medicaid car insurance. Well Allstate, instead of receiving a 39% increase from me, you will be receiving a 100% DECREASE. May the increase you are levying upon your loyal customers be erased and more so by this greedy, reckless and insane move, (Allstate’s CEO should immediately give up his 15 MILLION dollar a year salary), and may you completely go out of business.
@jenkinsljenkinssquire9137 : Never understood why I had to pay for someone else not having insurance
