Learn how to properly connect the cables on an audio mixer to mix your microphone, Windows sound or other inputs.
Using the Behringer Xenyx 502, you get information about the little mixer and clever tips for practical use.

Paul Davison : Well, unless your laptop lets you change the mic input to line level in software, the line level signal coming from the mixer (-10dB) will be too high for the mic input's pre-amp stage. This should lead to the signal being distorted, though you may get away with it if you set the recording level low. To approach the signal to noise ratio of which your sound card is capable, however, you need to record at as high a level as possible, (i.e., without clipping), so this is no good!
Blindfinger : Finally! A video that clearly and directly describes cable routing for the beginner. Many videos are full of expert babble. Thank you Sir!
Harb Chan : Of all the videos I've checked for setup help this made the most sense - simple and easy to follow - nice job :)
Paul Davison : 2:58: The CD/Tape Output should go to the Line In of your soundcard NOT the Mic In. If you're using a laptop with only mic and headphones sockets, you'll need an audio interface such as Behringer's own UCA222 (USB).
Mick Rooney : I have this mixer and it is amazing for the price and what you get. Unfortunate about so many of the negative comments, because it's very clear most negative comments emanate from a complete lack of understanding of the CD/Tape buttons for monitoring/recording returns, combined with not understanding the line inputs v the RCA input/outs. That is explained in the video and why it is better to use a line input direct to the mix rather than the RCA input which bypasses the mix controls. Also, a 3.5mm jack can be split with an inexpensive cable that isolates the send and return signal. Sometimes it is better to fully understand the device you bought rather than bash the messenger.

Tech Review: Behringer Xenyx 502 Mixer

A review of this amazing mixer by Behringer
Patrick Hosseini : Such a great review! Especially considering it was done in 2011. A bit of waffling but largely a concise demonstration of a simple use of this hardware - not to mention, he's mindful of how far away from the camera he is.

Great stuff.
tanaman kebun : it's the end 2020 and I just bought this mixer , this review really helps me, thanks
GLITTERPRINCESS : very good demo! I wish more people put this much effort into stuff like this
Gurpal Ghataora : Wow, this video has been super helpful. I'm pretty new to the whole music stuff and got this mixer. Video has been helpful in explaining how this alien technology works. Thank you!
TheDemonVain : First, let me thank you for such a good review! It was easy to follow. :D
I am a total n00b when it comes to music and tech but I have a party and wanted to set up a simple karaoke. I have only seen how they hook up big mixers, which have several mic slots, and I am curious to know if it is possible to use 2 microphones at the same time in this small mixer since I want to buy something affordable and small. Can one use a mic under the XLR (wireless?) and another inside the 1/4" jack same time?

Alirio S. : Thank you so much for the detailed review! I just bought this mixer, which is on its way, and after watching your review, I feel at ease that I made a good purchase. I'm just starting to stream, so this is all I need for now. Thank you!
Aspirintax : I bought it to mix audio from two different computer systems. The audio interface I use for my voiceover is a Universal Audio Apollo Twin, and I wanted the ability to record my voice over and camera together independent from my gameplay audio. I had both the gameplay audio, and the voiceover sounding excellent, but needed a way to monitor them together while recording each on independent computers. This mixer was basically used as a sub mix of two different audio signals being recorded simultaneously. It worked great! There is indiscernible loss in audio quality compared to when I monitor both sources independently. Also great for those whose audio needs don’t require a massive board.
SleepyNight : Great video! Shocked you have this few views and subscribers, the quality is great!

I was considering getting this or a budget scarlet and you helped me decide to go with this instead ( and it's cheaper too )
C Leiv : Awesome video! I'm looking to get a dynamic mic and pair it with this mixer. What is the difference between this and the Behringer UMC22? Will this be one better? I can get this one for 50$ whereas the UMC22 is maybe double the price...
Aditya Bali : Hi Joe, I am amazed you do not have more subs your content is fantastic.

I am looking to get this mixer for band rehearsal and recording rehearsal demos only. We are a 4 piece band and I would like to use this mixer in the following routing:

1) Vocal mic——> XLR input (channel 1)
2) Guitar—-> stereo input (channel 2-3)
3) Bass guitar—->stereo input (channel 4-5)
4) KLON/MOOG modulator—-> RCA stereo input

I am planning to send the phones output from this mixer to the drummer, and the main L+R output of this mixer into a 4 output LD headphone Amp for individual monitoring for guitar player, bass player, vocalist. My question is, will the main output and the phones output of this mixer work simultaneously with them receiving all inputs?
