Gjeebs : I grew up playing Latrobe and have talked to Mr. Palmer several and times the reason he is the "King" is because of his attitude on and off the golf course. He will spend time to talk to a complete stranger or even to sign something and when somebody told him nice shot he would look you in the eye and say thanks. He understood that without the fans he wouldn't be making money and embraced them. Even at 82 years old he still comes to the club to eat and play and talks to members.
mary balme : My Dad was a scratch golfer....he taught me how to swing a club at a very young age at Big Oak Driving Range in ER! Which of course would always follow with an ice cream at Carvel down in Panorama Plaza. The golf swing is a gift that my dad left me a very long time ago. Arnold Palmer was always his favorite! Thanks Dad and Happy Father's Day!!

They were the true pioneers who carried the weight & welfare of the tour on their backs, building it tournament-by-tournament while struggling from scratch to success. All the others came in their pioneering wake & prospered.
