I would say Remember back when color printers used INK as a joke right now but many people never got the memo to get a laser printer to not get scammed on replacement cartridges.
grendel1960a : my thoughts are a failed motor on the pump, I have pulled apart a few printers, keep those precision slide rods, they come in handy for projects and to use on the lathe. I once had to diagnose a problem on one of the big A0 sheet printers and it turned out there was an intermittent break in the ribbon cable to the print head, when a certain spot went around the curve the break would open and it would miss a section of print, it was actually easier to replace the whle printer in the end.
printers also have a wealth of gears inside that come in very handy for projects.
TheFurriestOne : I like the little LCD, I'd love to salvage a little screen like that! No idea if the interface is user-friendly though.
Complicated print-head too, interesting mechanical ink-selector. Those small channels in the print-head (and the even smaller ones where it applies to the paper) are what usually get clogged when the ink dries up from not using the printer enough. (casual users find it practically impossible to use them often enough)
I'd say it's good for project parts but that's about it. Kinda makes me want to find junk printers to take apart, but I've got more than enough junk as it is!
