How to use RTV and properly make a gasket
Learn how to use RTV to make a rear differential gasket, waterpump gasket, oil pan gasket, thermostat gasket, valve cover gasket, or whatever needs a gasket but you cant find a gasket. Using this method will help make sure you seal whatever you are working on, properly. If you dont use the RTV gasket maker correctly then you can get a leak and all that hard work was for nothing.
Here is the RTV I used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FW2NB2/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000FW2NB2&linkCode=as2&tag=chri0e2-20&linkId=ZNK4MMBHUJ45JGCS

Cars Simplified : Your presentation has improved quite a bit in three years. Much more energy in your voice now!
1979mackdriver : My nephew showed me some of your videos , he's at the age where most young fellas get into cars . I can say overall you have the makings of a good instructor at a technical school . I don't know if your just a gear head or a professional mechanic . If you are your certainly someone who enjoys his career , and probably does honest ,quality work . As for myself , I went to to work for Plymouth after I came home from Korea and retired in 1991 . If you came into the old North Assembly , I would have reccomended that they have hired you immediately . I was from the school of thought that the men who loved cars were the best candidates to build them. Keep up the good work and keep em rolling ..
Clayton Bennett : Great video, really helpful. i was looking to know if I needed to put junk back together before or after curing - this video definitely answered that question, and I'm sure it answered plenty of other questions for other folks. This is what YouTube is all about. Props to you, good sir.
Kelly Okamoto : I like to do one additional step to insure a leak-free seal. I clean BOTH surfaces with some alcohol BEFORE starting the RTV bead. I feel the adhesion is better-especially with valve covers and synthetic fluids.
Chris Fox : Good video. I'm actually one of the Permatex technical trainers based on the east coast. We now offer a special silicone just for rear differentials that you can find at many parts stores. Especially good for use with synthetics.

DanzZerous : 373cc high compression gas engine, water cooled, for crank case, suggest me the best please
Franklin Montero : for the engine or transmission crankcase, should you use ultra black, or could gray work as well?
Roman Janke : Hello! I've used for Mitsubishi 4G64 GDI engine Permatex Ultra Grey for cylinder head upper surface. It holds since 3 years: no leaks, no troubles. But as i yesterday "opened" used oil filter i've seen some remains of this sealant in there! Could synthetic blend oil dissolve RTV? It's Eurol Super Light 5W-30.
Thanks!
Bill Dozer : Hey Curtis! Will The Right Stuff harm rubber in any way? Thanks!
David Tufino Photography : Can Permatex Ultra Black RTV also be used along with a metal gasket?

Stuff Made Here : Thanks for the useful tips on this sweet technique. We need a close up of that wood grain on the brown part though!!
Cuda FX : for parts like this, you can easily add 50-80% filler to save on resin. there are plenty of options, from quartz powder or sand, to air filled micro balloons for super light castings.
PS: a more tightly fitting mould frame saves a lot of material
TheNunakun : Hey man, just wanted to let you know you're gonna blow up big by next year. Your videos are informative, relatable, and concise. I'm not much of a DIYer, but I enjoy learning just in case. Cheers, and I'll stay tuned.
Kizzy : Thank you for taking the time to explain everything in detail! I'm a hands on learner who benefits from a face to face instructor in a workshop... but I feel confident enough to try this because of your teaching method. Awesome videos, alot of content creators skip the additional effort to explain so thoroughly. For example, as soon as you said mentioned a vacuum chamber I was nervous , but then you immediately elaborated: What kind you should need, how to find it, and how to use it, I felt an instant sigh of relief!
I'm not sure if you have any other videos specifically, on chemicals you are familiar with/work with, what the applications are for each type, how to order/purchase and how to properly use them in the sense of product quality and safety.
Thank you, keep up the great work!
