Tragedy When US Navy Shot Down Civilian Airliner Iran Air Flight 655 | Mayday | Wonder
On 3 July 1988, during the Iran–Iraq War, the USS Vincennes launches missiles which bring down Iran Air Flight 655, killing all 290 people on board. The crew of the Vincennes claimed that they mistook the airliner for an Iranian Air Force Grumman F-14 Tomcat fighter, but Iran believes that the US deliberately shot it down.

Julian Gilyadov : As an American - the US was in the wrong here. Saying the plane was descending when it was ascending, and not identifying the plane on comms either. The medals at the end was just horrendous. I feel sorry for the innocent people who died.
Matt : This story is tragically heartbreaking. Initially I was empathizing with the difficult choice the captain faced. However, the commercial airliner was ascending, not descending. And as it turns out the US Navy ship was in Iranian waters and the flight was in an international airway. It’s no wonder the people seem to hate us around the world, these guys ended up getting a medal, while hundreds of innocent people died. I am disgusted, we need to completely change our foreign policy around the world. Utilize our own energy resources here at home, have a strong powerful military here, but no more undeclared wars around the world. It does far more harm than good
arrow64 64 : I love how they explain how high tech the systems are on the ship , but yet could not tell the difference from a passenger liner from a F 14, and my God , why would you get medals for this ?
Ch T : I was a teen in Iran and I still remember a part of an innocent small girl and her doll were floating on the water shown on the news that day; it was so heartbreaking and I still remember that scene!
Naveen Girish : Even after accidentally entering Iranian waters, entering into the pathway of ir655, going against the surface officer's orders, the captain received a medal of honour. Excellent work, America.

Joshua Howitt : Thanks for the review. I just received my 655 and was similarly disappointed with the attached cable and the rather bulky L-shaped USB-C connector. It doesn't fit as well as I'd expected with my older MBP or MacBook Air with their cases on, and the cable is quite short. (it hadn't occurred to me that the connector also wouldn't fit an iPad with a case on, til I saw your vid.). I'd really like a hub that offers 1 free USB-C port besides the PD. Thanks again.
