Megapack Deep Dive w/ Official Documents & illustrations! 7 May 2023 Giga Texas Construction Update
Gigafactory Texas on 7 May 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start!
This is a deep-dive, stand-alone video I'll be publishing later today concerning the recent documentation I provided about the installation of the Megapack Battery Electric Storage System (BESS) at Giga Texas. We go into public official documents, plans, illustrations and a comparison to the recent Angleton, Texas Megapack installation and see how much more advanced the Giga Texas installation will be, with 50% more overall capacity!

I used the Angleton, Texas installation as a comparison because I have heard from a few of my Patreon's that they think the filed information about Giga Texas may be using older information and Megapack ratings. They are thinking the Giga Texas Megapack may be using newer and larger capacity individual Megapacks. In actuality, it seems Tesla had already accounted for this and the filed information matches up very closely to the newest versions of the Megapacks offered by Tesla.
To illustrate this, I compare the 2022 installation of the Angleton Texas Megapack site (which uses the older versions of the Megapacks) to the specifications called for at Giga Texas. What I found is despite a smaller number of Megapacks at Giga Texas (68 versus 81 at Angleton), the overall energy capacity is 31% higher, or a possible 262 MWh power consumption capability, rates at the 2-hour duration specifications to keep this comparison apples-to-apples as much as possible.
There is too much information to cover about this new Megapack installation at Giga Texas to put into a normal drone video, so I decided to make the standalone video instead.

@DavidJohnson-tv2nn : Thanks for the Megapack update! Just want to add to what you already said so well. @ 7:27 (Right side) Shows page 48 (PDF page 59) The schematic diagram shows 3 facilities. The new substation is at the top. The Megapacks are at the bottom. Notice in the middle, between the Megapacks and the main substation.... "Generator interconnection facilities" and "interconnection substation". The interconnection substation will have a 24.9 kV to 345 kV step up transformer, circuit breakers, and switches. Which will connect to the main substation via an underground 345 kV cable to the monopole shown on page page 47 (PDF page 58), also seen @ 6:37 on the video. Also, there are two back up power feeds that come off of the 25 kV buss. So the factory will have some backup power in the event of an outage.
