Dyspnoea | Respiratory System
Dr Matt explains dyspnoea and shortness of breath in reference to its:
- Definition
- Main mechanisms
- Common causes
Emil Altanov : I pretty much have this since I was born I feel really bad for people that have to experience it later in life beacuse you’re not used to it and that just makes you really loose sleep have panic attacks and stuff
John Wall : Woke up this morning and had trouble taking a full breath. I have been breathing manually a lot today and I can only get a full deep breath every 3rd breath, I know I’m breathing enough but I do have that feeling in my lungs that I need a full breath, even after taking a full breath. Any advice?
xeqshunner : I’ve had this since Feb. 2020.... started with sleep problems and finally had a panic attack one day when I felt unable to take a full deep breath... really messed me up as I felt like I could not breath normally, could not focus and felt like something was really wrong. After a month or so things got better but never fully went away. Initially it was so bad that I lost 30lbs in one month☹️. Fast forward 5 months and this problem is back. I don’t know what is causing this and it’s really frustrating. Some of my symptoms are upper respiratory passage dryness, cold sweats, irritability, diarrhea, unable to focus, constant burping, tired feeling... it’s just kicking my ass. Dr put me on Zoloft but gave me bad insomnia so stopped taking that. I’ve been home and off of work since December 2019 and through this pandemic so not sure if that has anything to do with it. I really need help with this. It’s really affecting my quality of life.
Yassine asmani : Great channel. Keep up
IRONWOLF _OMEGA : So this is definitely not the sensation you feel with anxiety then ?
Arif Hossen : Thank u
aksa ahmed : watching this, while im struggling to breathe :(
Valentina Janeva : I feel like I can not exhale the whole breath I take. I try to find a position, but I can't. Seating, standing, laying on back or on side with or without pillow, nothing changes. I am out of breath the whole damn time. I don't have apnoe. No pain, no swelling, no other symptoms, only frequent urination. I don't understand.
kiko : Thankyou so much! This explanation really helped me to understand the mechanism of dyspnea for my presentation today. I was basically losing hope when I couldn't understand anything from reading the textbook a few hours ago and this video saved the day.
Vro : Please help, since the quarantine my sleep schedule has been messed up. Quarantine and boredom causes me to play video games with friends until morning. I sleep at 3 or 4 am and wake up 9 or 10 am. Since then I cannot fully breath at times, sometimes I am able to fully breathe and most times I cannot fully breathe and I can feel my lungs or chest being tight or something. Last time I checked my weight was 71kg, I am 17 yrs old and I am about 5'2.
